I've been told that I betrayed the Nikon comunity as a photographer.
The forums does not allow me to interact with my friend, what's left of them.
All because I've changed my gear from Nikon to Canon.
Well, it's true!
I am no longer a nikonist! Not that I no longer want/wish to own a Nikon camera, but due to some unfortunate circumstances I had to sell my Nikon camera.
Since I had no savings to aford new DSLR and I could not live without a digital camera (you know the feeling! And more importantly, all the good stuff happens when you have no camera with you!! True?), I purchased the most versatile compact camera existed on the market.

Some say: why you did't go with Nikon compact? Fuji, Sony or Olimpus for that matter! Well, again, like I said:
I purchased the most versatile compact camera on the market!
Price - good!
Build quality - good!
Zoom range - huge: 35x optical (24-840mm at 35mm equiv) f/2.7-5.8.
Image quality - good!
To have ideea of how impresive the zoom is, here I post test pictures.
First is on widest zoom and 100% crop of it.

Second is maxim telefoto zoom and 100% crop of it.

Or, better, like this to compare the full zoom capabilities:

I MISS MY NIKON EVERY DAY! - to be clear!
Image quality is not on par with DSLR, but still, acceptable for family photos and amator photographer. Limited manual control.
I save money (started two years ago, but trouble allways finds me!) for a new Nikon (even if I wanted different brand on the begining, now not), probably Nikon D7k if not a bargain find for D300s! Lens wise, I'll go with general purpose Nikkor 18-200mm VR2 plus 50mm f/1.8. Latter on, a dedicated macro lens 105mm Nikkor.
